Even before he retired, former Yankee great Derek Jeter said he wanted to own an MLB team. The sale will end the tenure of one of the least liked owners in MLB history in Jeffrey Loria. This on top of the fact that leaked documents showed that the Marlins ownership funneled millions back to themselves. Samson is listed as secretary while Loria is listed as director of Double Play Company, the company the leaked documents showed the Marlins were paying as an expense and funneling money back to. Samson has had other things happen during his tenure that have been unsavory.
