Maria and Lee are exiting, and a new Caribbean disturbance is just beginning. (NOAA, RAMMB/CIRA)A quick glance at the Atlantic would suggest that this hurricane season is winding down. Maria and Lee are heading off to the east, away from land. Hurricane Lee has also weakened to a Category 2 and will suffer the same fate as Maria. Some of the most destructive or memorable October hurricanes formed or strengthened in the Caribbean Sea.
