The calls came after Edward Cairney and Avril Jones were sentenced yesterday to a minimum of 14 years for the murder of Margaret Fleming, a vulnerable young woman who disappeared in December 1999. Edward Cairney was urged to “search his soul” after sentencing JANE BARLOW/PAMs Fleming, who had learning difficulties, was abused and neglected at a house in Inverkip, Renfrewshire, before she was killed by her “carers”. Neither admitted the crime, instead concocting a series of bizarre explanations for her disappearance. Campaigners support a Scottish version of “Helen’s Law”, introduced in England and Wales to prevent the parole of murderers who do not reveal where their victim’s remains can be found.
