Remarkable Places to EatBBC Two★★★☆☆GameFaceChannel 4★★★★☆I didn’t have high hopes for Remarkable Places to Eat from the moment, early on, when Fred Sirieix called Venice “the most glamorous city in the world”. Well, if you find overpriced tourist traps, forests of selfie sticks and thousands of souvenir shops selling the same tacky masks in what has been popularly called “the fanciest dump in the world” glamorous, then fine. Foodie Fred Sirieix, left, went to Venice to seek out hidden gems BBCAlso, I’m not sold on that title. It’s not as if a TV programme would be made about unremarkable places to eat, is it? So it’s lucky that Sirieix is such a likeable host, a man who smiles with his whole face, not just his mouth, and whose boundless enthusiasm is infectious.
