Marc Sneyd produced his speciality, a winning drop-goal, five minutes from the end of an enthralling encounter that ended Hull’s ten-game league losing streak against Leeds Rhinos. It was the second game in a week that the champions had succumbed to a late one-pointer, after Sam Tomkins’s effort for Wigan Warriors in a 9-8 victory. It was Sneyd’s fourth drop-goal of the season, having missed three of four kicks off the tee. On his 400th appearance for the Rhinos, Jamie Jones-Buchanan’s first intervention was to tackle Jamie Shaul in the air. Ash Handley would have pulled a score back had Mickey Paea not got underneath him on the line.
