17 Mar 2026Thames Water's creditors are currently battling to keep the utility privatised. As well as an open letter signed by 24 MPs, We Own It have co-ordinated an open letter from environmental campaigning groups. This letter - addressed to Ofwat and the Environment Secretary - demands that the deal is rejected. Thames Water’s creditors want to breach environmental regulations until at least 2035-40 [1]. In their absence, this unaccountable group of creditors have been allowed to control Thames Water in their own financial interests.
