When asked why these IDPs were not accommodated in the government-provided temporary shelters, Manabilang said it was due to politics. “You should be a close relative if not a close ally of the city administration before you are given a temporary shelter unit in Sagonsongan,” he said. Like other IDPs, the family of Saada only relies on the relief goods from government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, which are becoming scarce nowadays. Manabilang hoped the plight of the IDPs would reach the President and immediate solution would be found.
