Matakana Island is a long flat barrier island in western Bay of Plenty (file photo). A man in his 60s has been found dead in an anchored yacht in the Bay of Plenty. His body was found in the yacht off Matakana Island in Tauranga Harbour on Monday afternoon, police said in a statement. The death wasn't being treated as suspicious and would be referred to the coroner. Matakana Island is a long flat barrier island in western Bay of Plenty that stretches from Bowentown to Mount Maunganui.
