Manning agencies warn of port congestion in Manila South Harbor – The Manila Times

According to Tulod, ship owners were losing $80,000 to $100,000 per day just to handle crew change. The crew change does not only concern the Philippines, it’s a global issue. Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said they already asked ATI to stop charging fees to manning agencies. Danny David, president of Relinic International Trading Corp., earlier criticized PPA for using only the Manila Port for crew change. The solution, he said, is to open more ports such as Bataan, Subic, Batangas, Davao and Cagayan de Oro for crew change.
