The city of Manila now has the most number of active coronavirus cases in the National Capital Region, surpassing Quezon City, which topped the list for months. The City Health Department on Wednesday reported that Manila had 1,062 active cases. A patient is considered “an active case” when he or she had neither died nor recovered. The city government also attributed the high number of cases to the intensified mass testing. Metro Manila, the epicenter of the pandemic, had 12,649 cases, 758 deaths and 3,393 recoveries, according to the Department of Health.
