Mani has said the government will not resort to power cut to tide over power shortage during summer. The government was committed to avoiding power cut even at peak-level consumption. He said power consumption had increased with rising temperature rising, stressing on the need for purchasing power. Electricity from the Kudankulam atomic power station would be available to meet the additional demand and there were also chances of purchasing power from distant sources. Mr. Mani said a problem in purchasing power from outside was the shortage of power lines.
