Mandatory testing to commence when untraceable local infections exceed 3 daily, expert suggests

Microbiologist and government adviser Yuen Kwok-yung suggested that mandatory testing for patients showing symptoms should commence once the daily count of untraceable local infections exceeds three per day. “The positive rate for people being tested in private clinics after showing symptoms is much higher than those who tested in the airport. If patients are showing symptoms like fever, running nose and cough, the mandatory testing would require them to leave a sample to get tested,” Yuen said. Yuen stressed that authorities should execute the mandatory testing before it is too late, preventing large scale lockdowns like in July. And once there is a vaccine for the coronavirus, mandatory testing won’t be needed as well,” Yuen added.
