Manawatu Maori secondary school students took a chance to step into the spotlight and test their business ideas in a Dragon's Den-style competition at a Palmerston North marae. The 55 Manawatu year 10 and 11 students gathered at Te Hotu Manawa o Rangitane o Manawatu Marae on Maxwells Line to present their final pitches on Wednesday. The three-day course is part of a series of Maori business challenges, to encourage Maori enterprise growth. Judge Daphne Luke said the competition was about seeing business through Maori eyes and sowing the seeds for future success.
