Medical exam made easy for n-Vanuatu seasonal workersAt least half of Ni-Vanuatu come from northern regions, from where up until now they have had to travel long distances for a medical exam. Ni-Vanuatu who work on seasonal jobs in New Zealand orchards and market gardens will no longer have to travel a long distance for a medical exam thanks to the Kiwifruit Industry Community Support Fund. The Fruitgrowers Charitable Trust provided a substantial donation to the fund which recognises the importance of Vanuatu RSE workers to horticulture in New Zealand. About 10,500 RSE scheme workers come to New Zealand each year from the Pacific in a programme that has been going for 10 years, making up a shortfall in local workers.
