LANGKAWI: A man could only watch helplessly as his friend drowned while trying to swim to safety after their boat was hit by a strong wave during a fishing outing in the island’s waters today. “We were swimming to a boulder about 70 metres from the spot where our boat had capsized after being hit by a strong wave. He was then taken to the Telaga Harbour Park where he received medical treatment. Shukri, from Kampung Padang Ranggut, said that at about 1.30pm, their boat was hit by strong wave, sending it crashing into a rock. Langkawi police chief Assistant Commissioner Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said Ajis's body was found at the Telaga Harbour park estuary.
