Man shot dead in Habiganj police-protester clashes


The victim was a lineman for a PDB contractorA young man has reportedly been shot dead in Habiganj during clashes between quota reform protesters, BNP activists, police, and Bangladesh Chhatra League members. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital on Friday afternoon, according to Aminul Haque Sarkar, the in-charge of Habiganj Sadar Hospital. Earlier, clashes erupted in the Tinkona Pukurpar area of Habiganj town around 3:30pm. Witnesses said students gathered in front of the court mosque after Juma prayers to participate in the ‘Student-People March’ called by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement. As the procession moved, a clash occurred between students and BCL activists in the Town Hall area.
