Matthew Maffei, aka “Uncle Matt,” has been convicted of sexually abusing the seven-year old daughter of his friends. Maffei committed the horrific crime right in the victim’s own home, as her parents slept in the next bedroom. He also forced the victim’s five-year old brother to witness his abuse of the seven-year old girl on one occasion, and threatened to kill both children if they told their parents what he had done. Maffei, of Aston, Delaware County, Pennsylvania and a first time offender, previously pleaded guilty to all charges in the federal indictment. The government sought the statutory maximum sentence of 90 years based on the defendant’s horrific sexual abuse of the young victim.
