Man in court for allegedly causing grievous hurt, belong to unlawful group


A 24-year-old man, Joshua Adepoju, has appeared before a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for the alleged joint act, causing grievous hurt and belonging to an unlawful group. The defendant, who resides at Idu Gbagyi Karmo, is standing trial on a three-count charge of a joint act, causing grievous hurt and membership of an unlawful society. The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that Isaac Bassey and Oko Clement, of same address with the defendant, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station, Abuja, on Dec. 3, 2017. Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 79, 248 and 97 of the Penal Code. The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant N20, 000 bails with one surety in like amount and adjourned the case until Feb. 7, for hearing.
