The White House was put on lockdown Friday after a man on a mobility scooter set himself on fire outside the North Lawn. President Donald Trump was in the White House at the time but was not in danger, a CNN reporter said on Twitter. The secret service cleared the North Lawn, Lafayette Square and the sidewalk in front of the White House. The Secret Service closed Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House to pedestrian traffic, and a nearby block of 17th Street was closed as well. At least portions of the White House complex were locked down.
