Man nabbed for demanding 50K to alter student's marks

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a suspect who allegedly demanded Sh50,000 to correct a mistake in a student’s paper. The suspect, an ICT officer working at a local university, allegedly demanded a bribe of Sh50,000 to correct an anomaly in the student’s examination results as captured in the varsity portal. EACC said the student is due for graduation in December 2024 and had reportedly attained a degree classification of Second Class Honours Upper Division. It is alleged that the degree was mysteriously changed in the portal to Second Class Honours Lower Division. Upon the arrest on Friday evening, the suspect was escorted to the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station, where he was processed and later booked at Kilimani Police Station.
