PETALING JAYA: A man in his 30s who was hoping to strike it rich in cryptocurrency trading ended up becoming RM7,600 poorer when he was duped by a scammer. The man, in his eagerness to invest in digital currency, had placed an advertisement on a website. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Zani Che Din said the man was soon contacted by a person via WhatsApp, who claimed that he was willing to sell 0.1 units of his Bitcoin at RM7,600. The seller, upon receiving the funds, told the man to wait for 30 minutes to get his receipt. However, no further contact was forthcoming, prompting the man to realise that he had been duped.
