The incident was reported late Tuesday from the southeastern district’s Boalkhali Upazila. The victim has been identified as Md Shah Alam, 52, a resident of Charandwip area, said Boalkhali police’s Sub-Inspector Md Faruq. “A clash broke out on Tuesday over donations made to the shrine, when Shah Alam was struck with a sharp weapon,” he told bdnews24.com. Alam was rushed to Upazila Health Complex, where the doctors pronounced him dead, added the police officer. Police is preparing to open a case over the killing and the body has been sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said.
