Teaahu Reti, 46, was being chased by police when he jumped from the car and ran off, while the car went on to crash into a third fence. Reti continued driving to Jollie St where he drove through road works into a no entry area where fencing and machinery blocked the road. He had already pleaded guilty to charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, possession of morphine, and breach of prison release conditions, dating from December 23.
