A man was on Tuesday jailed for one year after pleading guilty to stealing pepper worth Sh20,000 from a Nairobi trader. Chacha also pleaded guilty to stealing a handcart worth Sh10,000 from Hezron Njoroge at Muthurwa market on the said day . The court heard that Mariko was buying pepper in Muthurwa market when Chacha requested to carry his luggage to Eastleigh. Chacha told chief magistrate Heston Nyaga he was remorseful for stealing the pepper as he could not help avoid taking them. "I thought of starting a pepper business in Rongai and that was why I stole," Chacha told court.
