A man in his 40s is dead after a motel fire in Scarborough Monday morning. Toronto Police were called to the Roycroft Motel, near Kingston Road and Rockwood Drive, at 7:05 a.m. for reports of a fire in one of the rooms. The door was too hot to touch and so they couldn’t get the person or persons out,” said Const. Toronto Fire arrived and was able to put out the fire which left “substantial damage” to the motel. Parks said a man was pulled from the room and sent to the hospital in serious condition, where he later died from his injuries.
