KOTA KINABALU: A man has been sentenced to 40 years jail and 20 strokes of the rotan for raping his stepdaughter at a house in Menggatal. Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad meted out the sentence on Tuesday after the 45-year-old man pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code. The local man was sentenced to 20 years in jail and 10 strokes of the cane for raping the girl when she was 12 in December 2015. He received another 20 years and 10 strokes for repeating the crime at the same house in February 2016. In mitigation, the man pleaded for a lenient sentence as it was his first offence.
