Man fined £6,000 for breaching lockdown rules after sneaking off to get haircut


Gareth Le Monnier, 37, was so desperate for a trim he flouted self-isolation rules to visit Toni & Guy when he arrived on the Channel Island of Guernsey. Customs officers told him on arrival he was bound under the Emergency Powers Law to self isolate until one minute past midnight on Friday 17 July. Le Monnier admitted two breaches over two consecutive days and was fined £3,000 for each. The court was told how Mr Tang had arrived travelled from Hong Kong and arrived in Guernsey via Southampton. They were bailed with conditions not to leave or attempt to leave the island and made to surrender all photographic ID.
