The vehicle was towed to the Maai Mahiu police station as police began investigating the incident. Mr Koelel also appealed to the government to assist Mr Tapasiany's family, saying he had left behind two widows and 12 children. He said Mr Tapasiany was the sole breadwinner in the large family and was returning home to prepare for the initiation rites of his four sons. Another villager, John Kusero, said the area was prone to accidents with motorists routinely speeding on the busy road.
