Man dead in Wanaka crashCHRISTEL YARDLEY/FAIRFAX NZ Police and ambulance have been called to a crash in Wanaka. A man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Wanaka. A police media spokeswoman said police were called to the scene on Ballantyne Rd in the tourist town by ambulance services about 5.45pm. The driver was freed from their car by firefighters, but has died. The serious crash unit was investigating and next of kin were being notified, the spokeswoman said.
