A man is dead after a truck crashed on State Highway 1, north of Timaru. Police said emergency services attended the crash at Orari-Rangitata Highway on State Highway 1 at 8:30am this morning. The crash involved a truck and a trailer unit, police said. Police said the serious crash unit is investigating the incident, which would then be referred to the coroner. The road is closed with diversions in place, the southbound diversion is along State Highway 79 Rangitata-Orari Bridge Highway, then back to Winchester-Geraldine Road, and the reverse for northbound motorists.
