A man has been charged with indecently assaulting a child who was on a school holiday programme at the time, police say. Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron said the 56-year-old Canterbury man was arrested following an incident at a school holiday programme at Alexandra Primary School on Thursday last week. Police were called after staff at the programme noticed a man talking to a child in the playground, Det Sgt Cameron said. The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) which runs the school holiday programme, and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have been informed of the incident and subsequent arrest. "However, it's pleasing to see that the staff running the holiday programme were vigilant and contacted the police immediately.
