more-inA 30-year-old man created a flutter at the Collectorate here by attempting to commit suicide on Monday. Police sources said R. Rajiv Gandhi of Meliruppu village near Panruti came to the Collectorate along with his family at the Grievances Day programme. Rajiv Gandhi made an attempt to end his life by dousing himself with kerosene and walked into the main corridor of the Collectorate. Police sources said Rajiv Gandhi was allegedly fed up with the delay in securing his land, which was encroached by a neighbour. He took the extreme step because he did not get a response to his petitions.
