A 41-year-old man appeared in Nelson District Court on Friday facing burglary charges and was held in custody until his reappearance on August 22. During the burglary at the Red Cross centre in July, a 12-seater transit van, a large amount of emergency equipment, hand-held radios, generators and tools that belonged to a contractor who was working on the site were taken. Police said they had carried out several search warrants in the Nelson area in relation to the burglary and had found stolen items, including an AED defibrillator machine.
