The explosion, police say, happened as butane was being used in the production of cannabis oil. Durham Regional Police have arrested a man following a home explosion that injured three people in Whitby Wednesday afternoon. When emergency services arrived around 3:30 p.m., they found “obvious signs of damage,” according to a Thursday press release. Fire crews discovered three men inside the home who were all transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “There was no fire after the explosion but there is structural damage,” Whitby Deputy Fire Chief Mariano Perini said of the multi-unit dwelling, located near the intersection of Garden and Dundas streets.
