A 32-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of beating a two-year-old boy to death inside a car in Long Beach last summer. Charles Edward Davis Jr., 32, was hauled in on Sunday and charged with murder and assaulting a child resulting in death. Detectives believe Davis battered William Meeks III after parking his silver 2016 Hyundai Sonata outside a liquor store in the 900 block of Daisy Avenue on June 16. When police arrived on the scene the boy was already in the arms of a Good Samaritan who was trying to give first aid. The case was first treated as medical emergency before an autopsy found the toddler's death was the result of blunt force trauma.
