French ground forces and military helicopters killed a jihadi commander linked with al-Qaida in Mali along with four others, the French military said Friday. Analysts said that Ag Moussa had been behind deadly attacks that targeted Malian forces but he also enjoyed popularity within his ethnic Tuareg community. Parly described the operation of the French military as "a major success" in the fight against terrorism. The French military spokesperson said that the truck was attacked after the occupants ignored warnings and started firing at the troops. Moussa was believed to be responsible for multiple attacks on Malian and worldwide forces in the country, French military spokesman Col. Frederic Barbry told reporters on Friday.
