KUALA LUMPUR: The Purchasing Managers' Index for Malaysia declined further in October, marking it as the lowest reading in four months. The headline Nikkei Malaysia PMI recorded 47.2, down from 48.6 in September on the back of a decline in production output which decreased at a sharper rate due to a decline in new orders. The headline Nikkei Malaysia Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index:tm: is a composite single-figure indicator of manufacturing performance derived from indicators for new orders, output, employment, suppliers’ delivery times and stocks of purchases. It said business conditions in the ASEAN manufacturing sector also slipped into decline in October, after improving in the previous two months. The Nikkei ASEAN Manufacturing PMI recorded 49.2 in October, down from 50.5 in September, placing the headline index at the lowest in 11 months.
