MALAYSIAN mixed martial arts (MMA) standout Hisyam Samsudin failed to shine at the Impact Arena in Bangkok after losing a three-round bantamweight battle against Indonesia’s Sunoto Peringkat. Sunoto, 32, used his impeccable grappling and ground skills to burn out his opponent as Hisyam attributed his loss to weak takedown defense. However, his fight against then opponent Liberian Jerome S. Paye, was cancelled. “I fought Sunoto and it didn’t go my way but it’s ok. Main event of the night in Thailand saw Australia’s Martin Nguyen’s hopes to become the first-ever MMA exponent to be awarded three division titles and belts dashed as Brazil’s Bibiano Fernandes outlasted him to retain the ONE Bantamweight World Championship.
