KUANTAN: Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (pic) will propose two or three places, including Kuantan, as potential fishing towns for tourism in the 12th Malaysia Plan. The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister likened the fishing town concept to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco in the United States. “We want to create a fishing town modelled after the ones in Australia and America where people can go and eat fresh marine food,” said Ahmad Shabery. "But what we are missing are the many cafes and restaurants where tourists can go to, because this will add value to tourism. “We would like it to be like it is San Francisco, where the day and night life is very lively,” he added.
