KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s fertility rate is at an all-time low.And it’s expected to dip even lower in future, says the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry. Quoting a study, the ministry says millennials are more open to the idea of not having children, with the younger ones even more open. Fertility rate to drop furtherDespite the relatively high desire for children, the ministry expects the total fertility rate (TFR) to keep falling. But while Malaysia’s TFR is now 1.8, it does not mean the population is shrinking. The falling fertility rate is also associated with economic development leading to better opportunities and quality of life for many citizens.
