Major fire in Britwell Estate destroys house

A serious fire ripped through a terraced house in Slough's Britwell Estate, bringing a large fire brigade presence yesterday afternoon. At about 2.10pm on June 29, six fire engines from different stations raced to the severe blaze in Long Furlong Drive. It consumed the whole house leaving it severely damaged - 'pretty much destroyed', said firefighters from Langley Fire Station, who were among those crews at the scene. Crews were on the scene for six hours using water jets to extinguish the fire, and eight firefighters needed to wear breathing apparatus to protect them from the smoke. Fire teams remain unsure how the blaze started, saying it was possibly an electrical fault, but an investigation will take place.
