Waris was introduced into the game in the 73rd minute and two minutes later netted the winner after squaring up a pass from Thomasson. Waris joined Strasbourg on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese giants FC Porto in the just ended winter transfer window. Waris was brought on in the 74th minute in their midweek encounter against Toulouse on matchday 23 of the French top-flight league. The striker repaid the faith shown in him by coach Thierry Laurey as he smashed home the winner two minutes later.
