(MRC) said on Wednesday it has switched on its 500-kilowatt (kW) solar rooftop project in northern Luzon, formalizing its entry into the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry. MRC, through its subsidiary Menlo Renewable Energy Corp. (MREN), inaugurated its pilot solar PV rooftop project installed on a rice mill on Tuesday. MRC said commercial and industrial companies, such as rice mills, can benefit from the solar PV project. The agricultural sector, in particular, is seen to benefit from the solar rooftop project as it can reduce the cost of milling paddy rice. Currently, MRC has another solar rooftop projects in the pipeline, paving the way for its transformation into a “bigger, bolder and future-ready company.”
