A four-member bench led by Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah resolved the state’s leave-to-appeal against the High Court’s bail order on Thursday. A Tangail court sent Rana to jail after he surrendered in September last year. On Aug 23, the Appellate Division of the top court granted a plea of Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and ordered police to produce Rana in court on Sept 6. Four suspects including Rana were taken to the court amid tight security while three other suspects, who are currently out on bail, appeared before it. Leaders and activists of the ruling Awami League demonstrated at the court premises demanding trial of Rana and his brothers.
