The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) said it did not operate the “training camp” that was recently overrun by government forces in San Mateo town in Rizal province. In November, Rizal policemen raided a similar camp in Taytay town and arrested 52 people. He said the San Mateo camp could have been there “for a month already,” but the activities might still be more on “recruitment phase” at the time. ADVERTISEMENTOn Dec. 25, officials of Barangay Guinayang, San Mateo, reported to the police that guns were fired in the area. On Dec. 26, government troops entered the makeshift camp and arrested among the group its supposed leader, identified as Lydia Panuelo.
