The second national convention of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has been scheduled for between Friday, 27 April and Sunday, 29 April, 2018. The formal opening of the convention, to be chaired by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, is slated for Saturday, 28 April, at the National Mosque Conference Hall, Abuja, by 10.00 a.m.A statement signed by the MMPN president, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the theme of the convention, “2019: Our Role,” had been chosen in view of the developments that would herald 2019, which is a critical year for the country. The keynote address, according to the statement, will be delivered by a professor of Language Arts and Communication, Department of English, University of Abuja and the Imam of the university, Professor Taofiq AbdulAzeez. “During the convention, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), who is also the spiritual father of the day, will be installed as the grand patron of MMPN,” the statement added.
