The Monrovia Football Academy over the weekend raised US$4,915 from its first scholarship fundraiser held in Monrovia at the Royal Grand Hotel. According to the management of the academy, the total money raised was a combination of individual donations, t-shirt sales, and proceeds from Royal Hotel’s brunch. The scholarship fundraiser was part of the academy’s plans to fund 10 academic scholarships. However, the academy via its official Facebook page lauded the participants of the fundraiser and added that the accumulated amount will cover 10 academic scholarships for student-athletes at the academy for the 2018-19 school year. In the 2017-18 school year, the academy grew from 47 students and three academic grades to 70 students ages 8-14, in grades 3-6.
