MCMC, police carry out raids over uncertified cordless phones, TV antenna - Nation

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and police recently carried out raids to curb the use of non-certified communications equipment. Mohd Shafie said the usage of non-certified communications equipment by the suspects had caused frequency disruption and affected the communications service quality in both locations. "During the raids, communication equipment such as a cordless phone bought through an online platform and UHF television antenna were seized. Between 2018 and April 2019, 23 charges have been filed for offences under the same provision for usage of non-certified communications equipment, with a total fine amounting to RM165,000. Mohd Shafie advised the public to only buy and use communications equipment that carried the MCMC certification.
