PETALING JAYA: The MCA has taken several DAP leaders to task over the “Belt and Road Initiative” comic book fracas that led to the resignation of Hew Kuan Yau as the CEO of the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC). Party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said more officials should also be scrutinised as the comic book was distributed to schools without prior approval from the Education Ministry and that it even bypassed protocols to be gifted to the Chinese President Xi Jinping. “However, Hew alone would never have been able to bring this comic book into school grounds, much less offer it as a souvenir for the Chinese President. Chong claimed that according to Hew’s Facebook posts, Teo had met with Hew and received a copy of the tri-lingual comic book.
