GEORGE TOWN (Bernama): Rat-eating macaques can be an alternative as a natural pest control for oil palm plantations to replace pesticides which could be harmful to the ecosystem in Malaysia. "This species hunt during the day, while owls hunt at night, complementing each other. We do not plan to train these primates, but to leave this species in the forest. Nadine said that through this research, they want to change society's perception, especially oil palm plantation owners, who label primates as pests. She added that the research proved that it has an important role in the ecosystem to control pests naturally.
